I was sitting with a friend who’s a single dad. He’s struggling to get a date — no one’s responding to his profile. I said, “Well, you’re bald and a lawyer, too. I mean, come on.”

But honestly, that’s just an excuse. The real issue is that he hasn’t updated his values to align with where he is now in life. Or maybe he’s still stuck living by outdated criteria. When you have kids, everything changes — you’ve got to prioritize your time, your income, and your mental energy. Sometimes you just don’t have the bandwidth to deal with hookup culture.
