“Thought-Forms” by Charles Leadbeater, originally published in 1901, is a seminal work in the field of esoteric philosophy and Theosophy. In this book, Leadbeater, along with Annie Besant, lays out a metaphysical framework for understanding how thoughts, emotions, and intentions can have tangible effects in the world.

The book is predicated on the idea that thoughts are not merely abstract mental processes but are instead very real forms of energy. These ‘thought-forms’, as Leadbeater terms them, have the power to shape our individual experiences, impact our health and well-being, and even influence the physical world around us.

Leadbeater explains that the quality, intensity, and clarity of our thoughts can influence the forms they take. Positive thoughts, such as love, compassion, and kindness, generate harmonious and beautiful thought-forms, while negative thoughts, such as anger, jealousy, and fear, produce discordant and ugly ones. These forms, he argues, not only influence the individual who generates them but can also affect others who come into contact with them, subtly influencing their mood, thoughts, and actions.

Furthermore, Leadbeater suggests that individuals who frequently generate similar types of thoughts will create more powerful and enduring thought-forms. These thought-forms can then act as a sort of magnetic field, attracting experiences, people, and circumstances that resonate with their energy.

In addition to this, the book presents an exploration of how thought-forms interact with the world, especially in terms of the impact they can have on others and how they may even help shape collective social realities. Leadbeater asserts that by learning to control our thoughts and shape them with intention, we can positively influence our lives and contribute to the betterment of society as a whole.

The book also includes a series of illustrations, which were intended to provide a visual representation of various types of thought-forms, thereby helping the reader to better understand and visualize the concepts presented in the text.

Overall, “Thought-Forms” is a thought-provoking work that offers a unique perspective on the power of thought and its role in shaping our individual and collective realities.

While Charles Leadbeater’s “Thought-Forms” doesn’t necessarily outline a clear, step-by-step guide on how to control and direct thought forms for specific influence over others.

In Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), “state control” refers to the ability to manage and change your mental and emotional states at will. The concept is rooted in the belief that by controlling one’s state of mind, one can influence their behaviors, decisions, and overall experiences.

Here’s a basic rundown of the steps often associated with state control to influence thoughts:

Awareness Recognize what state you’re currently in. This can involve identifying your thoughts, emotions, body language, and any physical sensations associated with your current state.

Desired State Identification Determine what state would be more beneficial or suitable for the situation. What thoughts, emotions, or behaviors do you associate with this desired state?

Anchor In NLP, an “anchor” is a stimulus that triggers a specific response. You can create anchors to trigger desired states. For instance, a specific piece of music might be used to trigger feelings of motivation, or a specific physical action (like tapping your fingers together in a certain way) might be used to trigger a state of calm. This process typically involves repeatedly pairing the stimulus (the anchor) with the state until the two become linked in your mind.

State Elicitation Once you’ve created your anchor, you can use it to elicit your desired state. By activating your anchor (for instance, by playing your piece of music, or by tapping your fingers together), you can trigger the state you want to experience.

State Interruption This technique involves deliberately disrupting an unresourceful state. For instance, if you find yourself falling into a negative or unproductive state of mind, you might use a physical action or a mental exercise to interrupt that state and shift into a more useful one.

Swish Technique This is a specific NLP technique designed to replace an unwanted state or behavior with a desired one. It involves visualizing a triggering event, then ‘swishing’ that image away and replacing it with an image of your desired outcome.
